E Blast #3 – March 30, 2022

Dear North Bay FRC teams,

Only three more sleeps and our North Bay FRC Event Planning Committee can’t wait to see you! Here are a few notes to help ensure a good experience.

  1. Yay! All teams are now registered for a free boxed lunch.Your lunches will arrive at your assigned team lunch rooms, which will be open between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. There will be cleaning supplies in each room. Room assignments can be picked up at Pit Admin.

  2. COVID Protocols

    1. FIRST Canada protocols can be found here: https://www.firstroboticscanada.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Vaccination-Policy-2.pdf

    2. Additionally, Nipissing University requires that only 3-layer disposable masks be worn in their facilities. Cloth over disposable masks is acceptable.

    3. In addition to FIRST Canada protocols, Nipissing University asks that all participants attempt to get a NU specific QR code via the Nipissing Vaccine Passport portal found here: https://nipissingu.apparmor.com/webapp/default.aspx?menu=Welcome+to+Web+Vaccine+Passportload . If you need help with this, please contact Michelle, NU Health and Safety Officer at [email protected]. Very important – For individuals who are unable to access the portal due to remote locations or internet challenges, NU Health and Safety  will accept that teams use the Ontario vaccine documents as valid proof of full vaccination.

  3. Today is the second day of pit interviews. Good luck to all teams. Please be sure to check your email from FIRST Canada to confirm your times.

  4. Parking

    1. Trailers may park at the back of Lot 5. Trailers may stay there overnight if needed.

    2. Buses park in Lot 9

    3. Accessible parking is available in Visitor Parking Lot 4.

    4. Other guest parking is available in Parking Lot 5.

  5. Team access is through the main doors at the front lobby of the Robert Surtees Athletic Centre.

  6. No food or drink, other than water, in the pit or stands. Best to bring your own reusable bottles.

  7. Teams will be assigned seating areas in the stands. Please respond to this email if you need more accessible seating.

  8. Good news, we will have a limited quantity of specially designed North Bay Event shirts on sale from 10:00 AM to 3:00 for $10 – cash only.

  9. Many of our participating teams have already earned awards – a big congrats to them!

  10. Food

    1. There will be a canteen at the Robert Surtees Athletic Centre with hot dogs and snacks. We ask that these snacks be consumed outside the facility.

    2. Lunch is provided for all, but if other food is needed, this will require leaving campus as nothing else will be open.

  1. A big shout out to our wonderful Platinum Sponsors, Redpath and Nipissing University! Expect to find some very nice gifts from these gracious folks on your pit table upon arrival.
